蒔絵とは蒔く絵、つまり漆で絵を描き、乾かぬうちに金粉などを蒔く、日本独自の漆工芸です。
特に桃山時代の蒔絵は「高台寺蒔絵」と呼ばれ、画期的なものでした。
秋草などのモチーフが活き活きと描かれ、その技法は簡潔で大胆です。
matohuはこのコレクションで本物の秋草を型におこして手刷りの粉箔プリントをほどこし、身にまとう高台寺蒔絵をつくり出しました。

Makie is a decorative style, original to Japan, in which gold flakes are scattered on the surface, as in Urusi lacquer.
Makie, in the Momoyama Era was called, "Kodaiji-makie". It was an epoch-making refinement. Makie was used to draw Autumn flowers and plants on walls, column, boxes and tableware.
We re-created Makie in our collection by using a design of real autumn plants.
